Man & The Echo‘s new single Operation Margarine has gone up this afternoon.

A trek through an essay by literary theorist and philosopher Roland Barthes, it’s the second tune from the band’s upcoming eponymous debut album, out on November 18th. Frontman Gaz Roberts says of it:

“I tried to distil the essence what Barthes was writing about into a 3 minute pop song; how things that are at best a bit shit or at worst totally corrupt are sold to us by virtue of their terribleness, and we swallow it.”

“I don’t know much else about Barthes but I think if he heard this he would love it and he and I would definitely be best friends.”
