Liam Gallagher has been describing the straight-forward, ‘bang-in-your-face’ nature of his debut solo album.

“Good songs, good vocals, rock n’ roll, stuff you won’t have to think too much about,” he’s told the Metro (via NME). “No long guitar solos, no drum solos, no mad wizardy keyboard, just bang-in-your-face. It’s good.”

Gallagher had been dropping subtle hints on Twitter that he was ready to begin the solo chapter of his career this year despite previously emphatically denying he would ever do so.

It will end a relatively quiet period for the former Oasis frontman since the split of Beady Eye in 2014, though it could be even quieter if this next record fails to capture the public’s imagination.

“I’ve done the Beady Eye thing and that didn’t come off and I thought maybe I’ll just have a break, but I wrote these songs and I thought, ‘what else can I do?’,” he continued.

“This album, if it does well we crack on and do another one. If it doesn’t I don’t know what I’ll do. I probably will fuck off forever but we’ll see.”
