The final David Bowie studio album ‘Blackstar‘ and Radiohead‘s latest LP ‘A Moon Shaped Pool‘ are some of the big releases to have made the 2016 Mercury Prize shortlist.

Michael Kiwanuka‘s stunning ‘Love & Hate‘ record has also found time to make the shortlist despite only being out a matter of weeks, while Savages‘ ‘Adore Life‘ and The 1975‘s ‘I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It‘ are on there too.

Some changes have been made for this year, and this list is consequently due to be whittled down to a final six before the ceremony at London’s Eventim Apollo on September 12th, with one of those finalists being picked via a public vote.

The ceremony will go out live in the UK on BBC Four and the BBC 6Music digital radio station.
