Live4ever Interview: exmagician gear up for LeeFest later this month

exmagician

exmagician are sure to be one of the must sees when the latest LeeFest takes place at John Darlings Farm in Kent between the 28th-30th of this month.

The duo’s ‘Scan The Blue’ album was one of Live4ever’s early favourites of the year – “a drop of swinging psychedelia with a few softer edges” according to our review – and they’ve told us what’s been standing out live from the LP during the build-up to the festival.

“It changes all the time,” they said. “For a while it was ‘Smile to the Gallery’ as it was a new one in the set, although ‘Wild Eyes’ has been a lot of fun lately, due to it’s swing and bounce.”

“We have two other guys with us when we play live, drums and bass,” they continued. “We couldn’t recreate the sound of the album without at least a four-piece. We are working on a set that’s just the two us, but it’s a very different sound, a lot more electronic.”

There’s plenty more on the bill at LeeFest, from headliners Lianne La Havas, Circa Waves and Ghostpoet to appearances from Everything Everything, Spring King, Clean Cut Kid and various other live treats from the world of comedy, spoken word performance and more.

“Roots Manuva, definitely,” exmagician told us of who’ll they’ll be checking out. “We played with Spring King before and enjoyed them, so we’ll try and catch their set.”

“There’s no doubt that a festival makes more sense in the sunshine, but if the vibe is right a rainy one can work too.”
