Inspiring young women to become involved in the music industry is the aim of speakers including Laura Marling and Lucy Rose at the second DICE Girls Music Day later this month.

Currently less than a third of jobs within in the industry are held by women, something organiser Jen Long is looking to address at London’s Sonos Studios on July 23rd. “We ran the first in March and it was such an enthralling and rewarding experience, I can’t wait to do it all again,” she says.

”There aren’t enough women headlining festivals, running record labels, or working mixing desks, and complaining on social media won’t fix that.”

Metronomy’s Anna Prior, BBC 1XTRA’s Jamz Supernova and others are also due to give talks; “it’s a testament to our industry that so many brilliant women have offered up their time to help inspire the next generation,” Long adds of the speakers.
