Damon Albarn: New Gorillaz album should be finished ‘fairly soon’

The next Gorillaz album ‘should be ready soon’ according to Damon Albarn.

Amidst all his other various side-projects, and the first Blur album since 2003 last year, Albarn still found time to restart Gorillaz in 2014 and last summer told Australia’s ABC 7.30 that he was ready to officially begin work on the follow-up to 2011’s ‘The Fall‘.

This all initially looked like it would be without his creative Gorillaz partner Jamie Hewlett, but that particular notion was put to bed in time for those sessions to begin, and he’s been a regular presence on social media recently offering progress reports.

And Albarn has now given his own update to BBC 6Music, but it seems it could be a little while yet before all is complete.

“Later in the year we’ll be starting to get the whole Gorillaz thing together,” he said. “I’m loving it and it’s getting there. It should be ready fairly soon.”
