The Who’s Roger Daltrey to receive 25th Music Industry Trusts Award

Roger Daltrey will receive the 25th Music Industry Trusts Award (MITS) on November 7th in recognition of his work with The Who and charities such as Teenage Cancer Trust.

“It’s great to be honoured by my friends and colleagues in the music industry in this way in the 25th year of the Music Industry Trusts Award,” Daltrey told Music Week.

“Roger Daltrey embodies the ethos of the MITS Award and is a deserving honouree,” David Munns, chairman of the MITS Award committee, said. “He is an inspiration when it comes to personal devotion to charities and is a worthy recipient in this historic year.”

As organiser of the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall for well over a decade now, Daltrey has supported the charity with a series of guest musicians including Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Kasabian and Coldplay.

He is continuing The Who’s 50th anniversary celebrations with Pete Townshend and will play more UK arena dates in August and September.
