The first single from Kaiser Chiefs‘ new album ‘Stay Together‘ is a return to their sound of old, according to frontman Ricky Wilson.

“When we wrote the first record we were very direct, little needed explaining,” Wilson says. “The songs seemed to speak for themselves and did all the hard work for us. ‘Parachute’ is pretty self-explanatory and a bit of a return to that. Parachute is probably the first love song we’ve written since Ruby.”

Producer Brian Higgins has worked on the band’s sixth studio album which is out on October 7th and is to be previewed at a London Palladium show on July 11th.

Despite the above comments, Wilson also believes Higgins has helped to concoct a ‘fresh sound Kaiser Chiefs album’; “Brian brought a very different approach to songwriting and recording,” he adds.

“It was a steep learning curve but together we tried out new ideas and sounds and ended up with a new and fresh sounding Kaiser Chiefs album.”
