The documentary film which told the story of the record-breaking 2013 David Bowie Is exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum will be re-released to Vue Cinemas and selected UK venues on July 14th.

“David Bowie is a true icon, more relevant to popular culture now than ever,” the director Martin Roth said at the time.

“His radical innovations across music, theatre, fashion and style still resound today in design and visual culture and he continues to inspire artists and designers throughout the world. We are thrilled to be presenting the first ever exhibition drawn from the David Bowie Archive.”

Filmed on the closing night of the exhibition in 2013, the re-release gives fans a chance to reflect on what was the fastest selling exhibition in V&A’s history – packed with handwritten lyrics, iconic stage costumes, photography, music videos, set designs, instruments, album artwork and plenty more.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of David Bowie,” the curators have now said. “His far-reaching influence on cultural life is unparalleled and the film offers illuminating detail about key objects from the David Bowie Archive with commentary from special guest contributors and a fantastic soundtrack.”
