Arab Strap reunite for UK gigs

Arab Strap

Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton have reunited Arab Strap and will play UK gigs later this year.

“I think the day we went to the pub and split up, we made a joke about Arab Strap getting back together in 10 years’ time to celebrate,” Middleton told Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music yesterday. “So that’s basically what this is: a chance to enjoy the music we made once more.”

“We wanted to celebrate it while we’re still relatively young and don’t look too embarrassing on the stage.”

The duo play gigs in Glasgow, Manchester and London in October, tickets go on sale tomorrow. They’ve also released an updated version of debut single ‘The First Big Weekend‘ entitled ‘The First Big Weekend Of 2016‘.

A very obvious influence on bands such as Belle & Sebastian, Arab Strap began their staunchly independent journey in 1996 with the album ‘The Week Never Starts Round Here‘. They split in 2006 a year on from their sixth studio LP ‘The Last Romance‘.

Tour dates:

OCTOBER
London, Brixton Electric (13)
Manchester, O2 Ritz (14)
Glasgow, Barrowland Ballroom (15)
