Yeah Yeah Yeahs make live return in New York with David Bowie, Lou Reed covers

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs emerged out of their hiatus with covers of David Bowie and Lou Reed during a gig in New York recently celebrating the work on British photographer Mick Rock.

There were performances of Bowie’s ‘Moonage Daydream’ and Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day’ as the band remembered the music of two sadly departed rock legends during their first gig since December 2014.

Singer Karen O told NME at that time that they were entering a ‘bit of a hiatus’.

“We’re on a bit of hiatus at the moment, so nothing yet,” she said of their future plans. “We have to wait to get the urge, get that itch. The time needs to be right and we’re OK waiting for that, I think.”

“It’ll be like muscle memory, this unspoken thing between the three of us where it all just locks in.” she continued on what she expected when the band reconvened.
