The Happy Mondays spent the final weeks of last year celebrating their generational soundtrack ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches‘ 25 years on.

They’ve now announced just such a gig on Saturday, September 17th this year at the newly reopened Hastings Pier as part of a One Inch Badge run of anniversary concerts.

The Mondays will be supported by another band celebrating a 25th anniversary – The Orb with their ‘Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld’ album – while on September 18th yet another 25th birthday is to be marked by The Levellers for ‘Levelling The Land’. They’ll be backed by Turin Brakes and Ferocious Dog.

We caught Shaun Ryder, Bez and co. on the aforementioned winter tour of 2015 when it arrived in London.

“A quarter of a century has been long enough for Shaun Ryder to mull over the Happy Mondays’ most ergonomically live configuration; Ryder stays still at the back clad in leather and shades,” our review reads.

“While Bez, the group’s habitual totem dressed in shorts, t-shirt and hat (after all, it is a mild December), is let loose with his idiosyncratic jounces next to a colourfully garbed Rowetta who proprietarily struts across the stage.”
