AC/DC have confirmed Axl Rose will join the band in place of Brian Johnson for their remaining tour dates.

A statement has thanked Johnson for his ‘contributions over the years’ whilst still referring to hearing problems as the reason for his departure, despite claims the outgoing frontman was asked to leave against his will.

“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band over the years,” it reads. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we support Brian’s decision to save his hearing.”

“We are dedicated to fulfilling our touring commitments to all that have supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”

Axl Rose will return to Guns N Roses and the reunion with guitarist Slash in time for the start of their Not In This Lifetime tour on June 23rd.

A taster as to what fans should expect was offered up at Coachella last night (April 16th) when Angus Young joined Guns N Roses’ headline gig for performances of ‘Riff Raff‘ and ‘Whole Lotta Rosie‘.
