The AIM Independent Music Awards will return to the Brewery in Clerkenwell on September 6th.

“From the very beginning of the awards, we’ve been very aware of diversity, and not just in terms of ethnicity of nominees, but also gender and musical genres,” organiser Lara Baker has told Music Week.

“The one thing we really want to achieve is to really represent the breadth of British music.”

“The way we’ve approached that is by putting our judging panel together really carefully. We’ve got specialists in lots of different musical genres, we’ve got a good male/female balance, and between them they really know about all the different genres and artists that should be represented.”

In 2015, some of the prizes handed out went to Wolf Alice for Independent Breakthrough Of The Year, Enter Shikari for Independent Album Of The Year and Skepta for Outstanding Contribution To Music.
