Metallica to act as ambassadors for Record Store Day 2016

Record Store Day

Metallica will act as ambassadors for this year’s Record Store Day after securing the initiative’s biggest selling release of 2015 courtesy of the demos collection ‘No Life Til Leather’.

The band announcement their involvement via a seven-minute love letter to vinyl which can be seen below, and have also confirmed the release of a live album entitled ‘Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France – June 11th, 2003’ for the French leg of Record Store Day, all proceeds of which will go towards Fondation de France’s ‘Give For France’ campaign, launched in the wake of last November’s horrific terrorist attacks in Paris.

Record Store Day was launched at a fallow time for the traditional vinyl format but in recent years has led a huge resurgence in sales which, in the UK, is predicted to surpass the two million mark this year.

Other special releases already confirmed for April will come from the likes of David Bowie, The Beatles, Mumford & Sons and Florence & The Machine.
