Longitude Festival invites The National as 2016 headliners

National

Ireland’s Longitude Festival will be topped by The National on its final night, July 17th.

Kendrick Lamar and Major Lazer are leading the bill too ahead of other bookings which include Jamie xx, Father John Misty, Courtney Barnett and Otherkin.

The National are preparing a new album for release and spoke to Stereogum towards the end of last year when Aaron Dessner said they are, ‘Not afraid, I think, to write hooks now’, while frontman Matt Berninger added:

“I think we’re actually writing in a room together more than we ever did. We’re excited about that. It’s changing the National, the way we’re doing it.”

New song ‘Roman Candle‘ has already been played live after work started on a seventh LP in New York last August. Berninger’s been creatively busy too on the EL VY side-project which he set up with Menomena‘s Brent Knopf to release the album ‘Return To The Moon‘ last year.
