Iggy Pop teams up with Josh Homme, Matt Helders on new album

After the sad death of David Bowie earlier this month brought one of his most celebrated collaborations back into focus, Iggy Pop has set up another intriguing partnership this time with Queens Of The Stone Age mainman Josh Homme.

“I wanted to be free,” Iggy says of the origins of their hook-up. “To be free, I needed to forget. To forget, I needed music. Josh had that in him, so I set out to provoke an encounter-first with a carefully worded text, followed by a deluge of writings all about me.”

“No composer wants to write about nothing. He got revved up and we had a great big rumble in the desert USA.”

The resultant LP ‘Post Pop Depression‘ is slated for release on March 18th, and was also crafted with the help of Dean Fertitia and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.

“This was to go where neither of us had gone before,” producer Homme adds. “That was the agreement. And to go all the way.”

The trio made their network debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night (January 21st):
