The fifth edition of Liverpool’s GIT Awards, which aims to pick out some of the city’s best musical talent, will get underway with a launch event at the Buyers Club on January 29th.

It all culminates at Constellations in Liverpool on May 14th when the judges will pick a winner from 12 to-be-revealed shortlisted acts who’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winners such as All We Are and Forest Swords.

“Getting nominated for, and then winning the GIT Award in 2015 was a great moment for us,” says All We Are’s Richard O’Flynn. “As always, Liverpool is full of amazing bands and artists and to win the award was both a surprise and a massive honour.”

Pink Kink, Nelson and The Night Café have been confirmed to play the launch event later this month, with more special guests set to follow.

“I’m delighted to be relaunching the GIT Award,” founder Peter Guy comments.

“In an age when award ceremonies have been cheapened by seeking viewing figures, selling tickets and watering down the very reason for which they were set up, the GIT Award has steadfastly remained true to its roots – championing the very best new music from Merseyside.”
