David Bowie gives full premiere to video for ‘Lazarus’

David Bowie has handed a full premiere to his video for ‘Lazarus‘, just a day before the album ‘Blackstar‘ is released (January 8th).

You’ll discover more of Bowie’s twisted imagination in the video as he leads us through an unsettling tale from his hospital bed, adding to the 10-minute adventure wrapped up in the promo for last November’s ‘Blackstar‘ single.

Meanwhile, producer Tony Visconti singled out Kendrick Lamar as a chief inspiration behind the successor to 2013’s ‘The Last Day‘ during an interview with Rolling Stone, detailing how he and Bowie had aimed to purposefully ‘avoid rock and roll’ during the recording sessions.

“We wound up with nothing like that, but we loved the fact Kendrick was so open-minded and he didn’t do a straight-up hip-hop record,” he said.

“He threw everything on there, and that’s exactly what we wanted to do. The goal, in many, many ways, was to avoid rock & roll.”
