David Bowie‘s new single ‘Blackstar‘ is now available for download after its video was uploaded to YouTube yesterday evening (November 19th).
After all these years should we expect anything less than the sprawling, horizon chasing 10-minute adventure that both this track and its video take us on? The promo was directed by Johan Renck, the man behind Sky Atlantic’s new series The Last Panthers whose trailer gave fans a first taste of the single earlier this month.
“I was looking for one of the icons of my youth to write the music for the title sequence, but was presented with a God,” Renck says.
“His first response was precise, engaged and curious.”
David Bowie both returned from and stayed in the shadows through 2013’s ‘The Next Day‘, whose release brought fans a first studio album in a decade but denied them any major public appearances or live performances.
The follow-up, also entitled ‘Blackstar‘, is out on January 8th next year.
