U2, Slaves accept invitations to returning TFI Friday

U2 have been confirmed as one of the first guests for the new run of TFI Friday, which returns to Channel 4 this week.

Having secured the likes of Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey for the one-off celebratory special earlier this year, the cult series now so synonymous in the UK with the hedonistic mid-nineties Britpop era is back for a full series with original host Chris Evans, who says of the U2 booking:

“It wouldn’t be the first episode of TFI without one of the biggest bands in the world, if not the biggest.”

“We’re over the moon that we’ve got U2 on the show. They’re coming in specially, flying straight from a show in Antwerp and straight back to Cologne, making the time just for us, and we certainly plan to make the most of it.”

Our favourites Slaves will also be making an appearance, as will actor/comedian Steve Coogan.
