The National debuted a new song entitled ‘Roman Candle‘ during a benefit concert in Los Angeles on Friday night (October 16th). Check out some fan footage below.
The band have been discussing a new album for some time now, as far back as when their ‘Trouble Will Find Me‘ touring was wrapped up in London in November 2013.
“We’re actually thinking for the next album we make a very raw, un-produced simple record that nobody will like,” Aaron Dessner told NME at the time.
This track though has all the hallmarks of classic National, and is likely to offer an early taste of the new record after frontman Matt Berninger told NME earlier this month that work has now begun on their seventh studio effort.
“We did a camp out retreat in New York a couple of months ago, and we’re having another one in LA in a few weeks,” he said. “We have 30 sketches of songs so far.”
