Plans were in place at the start of 2015, and now Jim Reid has confirmed The Jesus and Mary Chain are working a new brand new album.
One of the UK’s most revered and authentic indie exports have been celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Psychocandy‘ since last year, but Reid has told Time Out the band’s focus is shifting ever more to the future.
“We’re doing an album now,” he said. “We actually just started recording. It’s early days, but I would say it’s a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let’s just wait and see.”
The Jesus & Mary Chain released ‘Live At Barrowlands’ in the summer, of which our review concludes:
“Even after all these years, this is music that tears apart expectations, in no doubt of its own brilliance. As an album, this might not be breaking the ground itself, but it’s no less exciting or important.”
