The Montage Of Heck documentary soundtrack which is being sold as a Kurt Cobain ‘solo album’ has had its release date confirmed.

Officially titled Montage Of Heck: The Home Recordings, the album will be available in standard and deluxe forms from November 13th – these comprise 13 and 31 tracks respectively. As previously reported, a cover of The Beatles‘ ‘And I Love Her‘ will help promote the album as a 7″ single on December 4th.

Montage Of Heck filmmaker Brett Morgen has explained the background of the album being a result of researching ‘hours upon hours’ of personal archives which range from ‘audio montages’ to a ‘comedy sketch’.

“It’s curated to feel as though one were sitting in Kurt’s living room watching him create over the course of an afternoon,” he told Billboard.

“These are all just Kurt by himself with the guitar. These aren’t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they’re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his process.”

“I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man.”
