It’d be interesting to know how many people were even aware Never Mind The Buzzcocks was still running by the time the BBC eventually pulled the plug earlier this year after almost two decades on the air – a far cry from the music quiz show’s heyday under the guidance of Mark Lamarr and Simon Amstell.
But the comedy/music/trivia format will be given another chance on UK digital channel Sky1 in the autumn courtesy of the new series Bring the Noise.
Nicole Scherzinger and Tinie Tempah are team captains, while comedian Katherine Ryan will be given some rare exposure on British television as the show’s regular panellist.
It’ll be hosted by Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson, who says: “Nicole, Tinie and Katherine are all completely brilliant and ridiculous in equal measure. I’m no stranger to music-based TV shows with a competitive element, but this is taking music TV to another level.”
