The Libertines brought this year’s Reading Festival to an end last night (August 30th), performing a set mixed with modern favourites and fresh cuts from their upcoming ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘ album.

Opening as ever with ‘Horror Show‘, the band ripped through a succession of well-worn classics before bringing things up-to-date with recent single ‘Gunga Din‘. They later ended with a storming encore of ‘Up The Bracket‘, ‘What a Waster‘, ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun‘ and ‘I Get Along‘.

Meanwhile, festival organiser Melvin Benn has talked up the headline potential of Foals for 2016 but insisted the group haven’t yet been approached to lead the Main Stage next year.

“I’ve made no secret of the fact that I want Foals as headliners,” he told NME. “Will it be next year, or the year after?”

“There’s no decisions on that, no discussions on it. Foals are an amazing band and they will be a future headliner.”
