A Kurt Cobain solo album, of sorts, is being planned for release in November to coincide with the DVD version of Brett Morgen’s documentary on the late Nirvana frontman, Montage Of Heck.

When speaking to Billboard, Morgen explained that the as-yet-untitled album is to comprise a variety of material discovered from researching ‘hours upon hours’ of Cobain’s personal archives, ranging from ‘audio montages’ to a ‘comedy sketch’.

“It’s curated to feel as though one were sitting in Kurt’s living room watching him create over the course of an afternoon,” he said.

“These are all just Kurt by himself with the guitar. These aren’t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they’re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his process.”

“I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man.”

The album’s release has been set for November 6th by Universal, the same day Montage Of Heck will first be available on DVD.
