Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan joined The Libertines onstage for a group hug in Dublin last night (July 9th), after apparently falling asleep earlier in the set.

The reunited band were at the 3 Arena for their first Irish gig in over a decade, and welcomed one of the country’s greatest songwriters into the limelight shortly before an encore. This after Pete Doherty had earlier told the crowd, according to NME:

“I was so thrilled to hear earlier in the day that Shane MacGowan was coming down to watch us, but I just looked over at him and he looked to have fallen asleep.”

The Libertines play T In The Park this weekend and release their third studio album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘ on September 4th.
