It was The Charlatans who got Glastonbury’s Other Stage underway this morning (June 26th) at 11am.

Billed until today merely as unnamed ‘Special Guests’, a few subtle tweets on the part of frontman Tim Burgess culminated in Glastonbury unveiling its highest profile opening act, again on Twitter, just an hour beforehand.

At the same time, choreographer Michael Clark and his dancers kicked things off for the Pyramid Stage ahead of Florence & The Machine‘s headline performance tonight, while the John Peel Stage was opened by Weaves. Coming up later there are the likes of Peace, Circa Waves and Enter Shikari.

One more special guest for today still remains unknown; the act replacing Florence Welch‘s original spot on the Pyramid Stage immediately after Motorhead is being kept as a surprise for fans.

Speaking to the BBC, co-organiser Emily Eavis would only describe the mystery band as having ‘never done it before on the Pyramid Stage’, and that they’re ‘coming because they want to play Glastonbury’.
