After splitting in 2011, The Bluetones will be back in September to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

The band achieved their commercial peak at the height of Britpop in 1996, producing one of the era’s signature anthems with ‘Slight Return‘ and the UK number one debut album ‘Expecting To Fly‘.

A farewell tour of the UK brought the band to an end in September 2011. “It’s the last UK gig tomorrow so let’s make it a night to remember,” they said before a show in London. “There may be teardrops to shed, but let’s face the music and dance. It’s getting to that time, the tour is nearly over. The Bluetones are nearly over!”

They’ll be back at the Leeds Academy though on September 16th, and from there play further gigs in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Portsmouth, London, Birmingham and Bristol.
