Franz Ferdinand and Sparks have confirmed the details of their first record together, under the banner FFS.

“We approached it the way bands do with their first Alex Kapranos says of the album, which will also be entitled ‘FFS‘. “We had the songs first, rehearsed them and then recorded it all together, in a room. So no hanging around or fannying about.”

“The real motivation was to make something new, not ‘Franz featuring Russell Mael’, or ‘Sparks with Franz Ferdinand backing them’.”

Talks about a collaboration apparently first started right back at the time of Franz Ferdinand’s early chart successes in 2003, but it was ten years before those plans started to take shape. They eventually began recording with producer John Congleton at London’s RAK Studios, and have now shared closing track ‘Piss Off‘:

‘FFS’ tracklist:

‘Johnny Delusional’
‘Call Girl’
‘Dictator’s Son’
‘Little Guy From The Suburbs’
‘Police Encounters’
‘Save Me From Myself’
‘So Desu Ne’
‘The Man Without A Tan’
‘Things I Won’t Get’
‘The Power Couple’
‘Collaborations Don’t Work’
‘Piss Off’
