Pete Doherty: ‘Carl Barat won’t work on new Libertines album in London’

Pete Doherty has said Carl Barat is reluctant to work with him in London, and is purposefully restricting the recording of a new Libertines album to Bangkok where Doherty complete a drug rehabilitation course last year.

“Carl’s come out, he’s gone back, he’s come out again,” Doherty says in a short doc which can be seen below. “But he doesn’t want me, he doesn’t want to work with me in London, basically.”

“He’s made that clear. I think he was surprised and pleased at how well it went, working here, away from everything, and how inspired it was. So it’s just a question of him getting back out here.”

The Libertines reunited last summer and will continue live appearances this year at festivals including Reading/Leeds and T In The Park. They’ll play the latter with fellow headliner Noel Gallagher, who had expressed an interest in producing the third Libertines LP but backed because the sessions, as discussed, are being restricted to Thailand.
