The next Modest Mouse album has been earmarked for release next year and will feature Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Isaac Brock has revealed.

Fans had a wait of eight years for a new studio album from Modest Mouse after 2007’s ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank‘, but the recent ‘Strangers To Ourselves‘ record is going to have a ‘companion piece’ out far sooner.

“We basically made two records at the same time,” Brock has told Hot Press. “Which, if people look at it that way, cuts down the amount of time it took us to make this record in half man!”

Continuing, Brock explained Novoselic’s contribution fit the second LP better, adding: “We ended up finishing tracking with one of his songs that will end up on the next record.”

‘Strangers To Ourselves’ was released earlier this month and landed inside the Top 40 on the UK Album Chart. Check out the official video for lead single ‘Lampshades On Fire‘ on Live4ever at this link.
