Mumford & Sons are due in London tonight (March 9th) for a small show at Hackney’s Oslo venue.

News went out to fans overnight via the band’s mailing list as they gear up to make their live return in front of only around 375 punters.

Mumford & Sons release their third album ‘Wilder Mind‘ on May 4th and will debut lead single ‘Believe‘ when Annie Mac takes over the evening slot on BBC Radio 1 from Zane Lowe this evening.

The LP was recorded with producer James Ford and is expected to represent a significant departure from the mainstream folk which underpinned their first two records and was such a big, commercial hit in the UK, US and beyond.

“Towards the end of the Babel tour, we’d always play new songs during soundchecks, and none of them featured the banjo, or a kick-drum, we knew it wasn’t going to involve acoustic instruments,” Marcus Mumford has explained.

“We didn’t say, ‘No acoustic instruments’, but I think all of us had this desire to shake it up. The songwriting hasn’t changed drastically; it was led more by a desire to not do the same thing again. Plus, we fell back in love with drums! It’s as simple as that.”
