Former Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell will launch his first album with new band Zazou via a ‘hypnagogic mandala party’ at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington, London on April 13th.

Fans will be able to gain entrance to the gig through the medium of mandalas, which is a religious symbol that represents the universe. “One mandala on paper, printed, traced, drawn or otherwise, its one and the same to us,” a press release states. “No exceptions for press/guestlist/execs/superstars etc. No mandala no entry. Individuate yourself.”

The ‘Johnny Borrell & Zazou LP‘ is out later this year and follows Borrell’s debut solo album ‘Borrell 1‘, which gained dubious headlines in 2013 when just 594 copies were sold during its first week.

“It is being heard and appreciated by as many people as possible,” Borrell told Drowned In Sound in response. “It is! If that’s 500 people, that’s 500 people. If those are the 500 people that are open enough at this point in time to hear this record, fucking fantastic man.”
