Beastie Boys Ad-Rock and Mike D could work together again under different name

Surviving Beastie Boys members Ad-Rock and Mike D have said they could work together again in the future following the untimely death of Adam Yauch in 2012, but not under the banner of their hugely influential band.

“We’re done,” Ad-Rock told GQ. “Adam Yauch started the band. It’s not like a thing where we could continue without him. Adam was one of my best friends; I saw him more than I saw my whole family. You know, me, Adam, and Mike were together every day, recording, touring, as friends. And so, huge hole.”

However, in a separate interview with NME, Ad-Rock said he hoped to work with Mike D away from the Beastie Boys name. “At some point we’ll do something,” he revealed.

Adam Yauch passed away at the age of 47 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2009. His treatment prevented him from attending the Beastie Boys’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012.
