Pete Doherty is supporting the Amy Winehouse Foundation with a special tribute single in honour of the late singer.

Doherty’s track ‘Flags Of The Old Regime‘ has been produced by Stephen Street and features his one-time Babyshambles bandmate Drew McConnell, as well as Jamie Morrison on drums, Stephen Large on keys and producer Street on acoustic guitar and percussion. Strings have been arranged by John Metcalfe of the Durutti Column. It’s released on March 9th with all proceeds going towards the charity which works to prevent the misuse of alcohol and drugs amongst young people.

Close friends before Amy Winehouse died in July 2011, Doherty has previously used her lyrics on ‘Bird Cage‘ – a track planned for inclusion on a solo album which, at least to-date, has not seen the light of day.

What is coming along nicely though is a new album from The Libertines; Carl Barat recently tweeted a picture of himself in Thailand with Doherty as they continue work on an unlikely follow-up to the 2004 self-titled second LP.
