Out on March 30th, the LP was produced by Rich Costey and is their first since founder member Chris Walla left in 2014. Frontman Ben Gibbard has since spoken to Rolling Stone of his hope that fans will cope with the amended setup without too much trouble.

“I completely respect and understand why people love ‘Transatlanticism’ or ‘We Have the Facts’ or ‘Narrow Stairs’,” he said. “And I would hope that as we move forward, people listen with as little prejudice as they can and try to hear the music for what it is and not what they want it to be.”

The blow should be softened somewhat as, despite leaving following a final performance at the Rifflandia Music Festival in Victoria, British Columbia in September 2014, contributions from Walla are still expected to feature prominently on the new album.
