Carl Barat has revealed he is heading back to Thailand to continue work on the new Libertines album.

Writing on Twitter, Barat said he was ‘En route to Thailand to start demoing the Libertines new record’, this after it had been reported the band were in a ‘secret location’ following Pete Doherty completion of a drug rehabilitation course in Thailand. It would seem though that they are now back in the country as we all wait patiently for a first album since 2004.

Doherty gave an update on the LP when speaking to NME last week, remarking:  “We always had the tunes but we threw away so many. Some sneaked out as internet giveaways or they weren’t recorded properly. So this is a chance for us to make a record rather than somebody just stapling loads of bits together.”

“I can’t say that I’ve been able to listen properly to what we did, because some part of me doesn’t want to engage with it,” he continued on how the new record may stand-up to earlier material. “But whilst I’ve been clean I’ve tried to listen to some of it. If we can pick up from where we left off 10 years ago, fuck what anyone else thinks.”
