The Maccabees performed a free show at Norwich Arts Centre on Sunday (December 14th) to celebrate its crowning as the UK’s ‘best small venue’ by NME.

Four new tracks were played on the night along with various established favourites from the band’s back catalogue during the 75-minute set. The Norwich Arts Centre came top of the poll ahead of Southampton’s Joiners venue, and was praised at the time by Maccabees guitarist Felix White, who said:

“Small venues have always been important to us, but we don’t get to play them much any more. We’re really looking forward to playing Norwich Arts Centre again, particularly because we’ll have just finished an arena tour with Kasabian, and it will be the opposite experience to that. At smaller venues you end up having conversations with people.”

Setlist (NME):

‘Love You Better’
‘Feel To Follow’
‘Wall Of Arms’
‘Young Lions’
‘Kamakura’
‘WW1 Portraits’
‘First Love’
‘Precious Time’
‘Can You Give It’
‘Marks To Prove It’
‘Spit It Out’
‘No Kind Words’
‘Pelican’
‘William Powers’
‘Toothpaste Kisses’
‘Grew Up At Midnight’
