Modest Mouse have shared their new single ‘Lampshades On Fire‘ after rubber stamping a first studio album in eight years.
The band have made the track available to stream over at The Current after handing it a live debut as far back as 2011.
The first rumblings that Modest Mouse could finally be ready to release a new album began last week when they joined Instagram and posted a picture of the 7″ single version of ‘Lampshades On Fire’. The long-awaited follow-up to 2007’s ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank‘ was subsequently confirmed in the shape of ‘Strangers To Ourselves’, which will be out on March 3rd next year.
Since 2007, the only release of note has been a small collection of b-sides and studio discards entitled ‘No-One’s First and You’re Next‘, released two years later. They did though tour the US earlier this year, including a performance at Boston Calling in May.
