Jimi Goodwin: ‘Never say never’ on a return for Doves

Jimi Goodwin hasn’t ruled out a return for Doves, after saying he simply needed to ‘take a break’ from the bandmates he had been performing with since the age of 14.

“I know it sounds dead corny and trite but we have said: never say never,” Goodwin told XFM at Manchester’s Winter Wonderland concert.

“We needed a breather. I’ve been playing music with them since I was 14. I’m 44, we go back a long way. I think we needed to take a step back and go places you’ve not been.”

Without much fanfare, Doves gradually entered early retirement after the release of ‘Kingdom Of Rust‘ in 2009. Goodwin has since launched a solo career and unveiled his debut LP ‘Odludek‘ earlier this year, while the brothers Williams are impressing with Black Rivers, who have a debut album primed for next year and announced themselves with the free download ‘The Ship‘ back in July.
