Green Day‘s longterm touring guitarist Jason White recently received treatment for tonsil cancer, the band have revealed.

In a statement, they explained how White’s cancer was discovered and quickly operated on after he underwent a ‘routine tonsillectomy’ and are hopeful of a ‘full and speedy recovery’.

“We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread,” the statement reads.

“Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery. Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time.”

White first gained an association with Green Day when frontman Billie Joe Armstrong became a part of the Pinhead Gunpowder project in the early nineties. From there, he began playing live with the band in 1999 and received his first studio credits on the 2012 trilogy ‘¡Uno!‘, ‘¡Dos! ‘and ‘¡Tre!‘.
