AC/DC on possible Glastonbury headline: ‘Is there rock and roll there?’

AC/DC have been considered one of the most likely candidates for a headline spot at Glastonbury in 2015 but, speaking to BBC 6Music yesterday (December 2nd), they didn’t exactly sound overly enthusiastic about the possibility.

The Australian’s band’s link with next year’s event goes back to comments Michael Eavis made when Glastonbury 2014 was wrapping up, when a band he said had been secured to top the bill in 2015 ‘are not British any more’, which some took as a link to the Young brothers’ Scottish heritage.

However, when speaking to 6Music’s Shaun Keavney, guitarist Angus Young suggested there has been no contact between band and organiser, while frontman Brian Johnson didn’t sound too keen anyway.

“I don’t know if there’s rock and roll there,” Johnson said. “I don’t know, please don’t ask me, I’m really not up on it. I thought it was wellies and corporate, I don’t know.”

“If they ask, OK,” Young added. “If they ask I’ll say he sent us, Shaun sent us.”
