Carl Barat and Pete Doherty are pressing ahead with their intention to work on new Libertines material – despite Doherty currently being in rehab in Bangkok.

“We’ve only done bits and bobs on tour,” Barat has told NME. “We were both reminding each other of scores of tunes that we’d forgotten that had never seen the light of day. But Plan A is to write new things. There’s about five new tunes on the work bench at this stage and that’s just from having been in each other’s company, not even sitting down to write. One’s called ‘Woke Up Again’, but that’s a working title.”

Barat has also today confirmed the details of his debut album with The Jackals – the band he formed after deciding a solo career wasn’t for him after all and just before The Libertines returned to the stage for the first time since 2010 at last July’s British Summer Time festival.
