Roger Daltrey confirmed the new track ‘Be Lucky‘ which features on the forthcoming Who retrospective ‘The Who Hits 50!’ will be followed by a full length album from the band as they celebrate their Golden anniversary.

“The Who have got a new record out,” Daltrey said when in conversation with The Mirror. “It’s 50 years on and we have passed the audition. We’ve done one song and we are going to do a whole album. It’s exciting.”

The Who start UK arena dates on November 30th in Glasgow, dates described as ‘the beginning of the long goodbye’ by Pete Townshend. Of the changes in the surviving members of the group as they approach retirement, Daltrey continued:

“It’s not as rock and roll, it could never be as rock and roll because we are older. There’s drugs but they are just different – it’s now all Imodium and those types.”

Daltrey and Townshend last released a studio record back in 2006 with ‘Endless Wire‘.
