We’re without any specific figures, but online retailer Amazon has revealed Pink Floyd‘s new record ‘The Endless River‘ is in with a chance of becoming its most pre-ordered album of all time.

‘The Endless River’ is already the most pre-ordered album of 2014 so far, having surpassed Coldplay‘s ‘Ghost Stories‘, and now only One Direction apparently stand in its way from becoming the most hotly-anticipated release Amazon has ever seen.

“That Pink Floyd’s ‘The Endless River’ could become the most pre-ordered album of all time on Amazon.co.uk, following other artists like One Direction and Robbie Williams who have held that top spot, is a testament to the strength and diversity of the UK music scene,” Amazon’s director of EU digital music Steve Bernstein comments.

‘The Endless River’s genesis can be traced back to 1994 and the sessions which resulted in that year’s ‘Division Bell‘. As a result, Dave Gilmour has described it as ‘an emotional tribute’ to keyboard player Richard Wright, who died in 2008.
