Ed Sheeran is leading a decidedly uninspiring list of the UK’s biggest selling albums of 2014 so far.

Sheeran’s second album ‘x‘, which shifted 182,000 copies during its first week alone, spent eight weeks on top and has generally been hanging around like a bad smell ever since, leads the way ahead of Sam Smith‘s ‘In The Lonely Hour‘ and Coldplay‘s ‘Ghost Stories‘. ‘Caustic Love‘ from Paolo Nutini and Paloma Faith‘s ‘A Perfect Contradiction‘ complete the Top 5.

“I’m so happy people have been enjoying my album so much – great to hear that it’s still the biggest seller of the year and has now gone double Platinum too,” Sheeran remarks. “Looking forward to playing it live to my UK fans when the tour starts next week!”

Favourites from 2013 in the form of Arctic Monkeys‘ ‘AM‘ and Bastille‘s ‘Bad Blood‘ are also among the most popular so far this year.
