Debbie Harry to headline John Lennon tribute concert in New York

Debbie Harry of Blondie will headline the latest John Lennon tribute concert in New York this coming December.

“I share Theatre Within’s belief that music and the performing arts have a special power to bring people together and inspire us to make a positive difference,” Yoko Ono has said in a statement. “It’s beautiful that the Tribute continues to have such a powerful impact in John’s memory.”

Theatre Within is staging the concert on December 5th at Symphony Space in New York with The B-52‘s Kate Pierson, Joan Osborne, Marshall Crenshaw and Ben E. King also on the bill.

Proceeds from the night, including the handing out of the inaugural John Lennon Real Love Award to photographer Bob Gruen – who was a close confidant of Lennon’s during the late Beatles legend’s time in New York from the early seventies until his untimely death in 1980 – will go towards the Lennon and Yoko Ono Spirit Foundation.
