Malcolm Young will not be returning to AC/DC when the band head out on tour to promote their new album, a statement has confirmed.

Rumours began circulating back in the spring that the band could end altogether due to ill health being suffered by their rhythm guitarist, but a message issued at the time stated that the elder of the Young brothers was merely taking a break, and far from quitting AC/DC were in fact working on a fifteenth album.

Now, although the nature of the illness has not been publicly discussed, an update has confirmed Young will have to permanently leave the band.

“Earlier this year AC/DC released a statement explaining that due to illness, Malcolm would be taking a break from the band,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately, due to the nature of Malcolm’s condition, he will not be returning to the band.”

The LP in question is entitled ‘Rock Or Bust‘ and is released on December 1st.
